Bed mattresses : The advantages of Memory Foam Mattresses

A memory foam mattress is made of Polyurethane, which is known to greatly increase the density of a mattress, thus adding comfort and security. Memory foam was first developed by NASA to attenuate the enormous pressure of the G force, exerted during shuttle take-off. In later years, memory foam was used extensively for medical purposes, such as to attenuate the suffering of people who were confined to bed over extended periods of time. These materials have proven effective in alleviating some of the body's pressure points and in attenuating the discomfort of patients who are paralyzed after an accident or a stroke. The memory foam industry developed a range of accessories related to wheelchairs, pillows, mattresses and the like.

However, the cost of memory foam was so exorbitant that it was only used for medical or scientific purposes. In the last few years, mattress manufacturers have developed the memory foam mattress for the layman and have invested millions of dollars in advertising campaigns to sell the memory foam mattress to individuals all over the USA. Its price is much higher than the price of a regular mattress. However, over the last few years, the Chinese have been producing this item at competitive prices.

These mattresses can be compressed and shipped to the client's door via UPS or the regular post. After opening the package, the mattress suddenly blows up into its full size.

Some people claim that the Chinese made memory foam mattress is compressed via hydraulic presses, as opposed to the vacuum presses used in the USA. It is kept under compression for long periods of time until it reaches the American coast, which results in the need to air the mattress for a little longer.
