Bed mattresses : The Very Versatile Futon Mattress

The Futon mattress comes from Asian countries. In India and Asia the futon mattress is made out of cotton that is stuffed into the thick cover and taken apart at least once a year when the cotton is rewashed and beaten by a specialist who knows how to clean cotton. The futon is then re-stuffed and sometimes made thinner or thicker to the person's request. Most homes in India and Asia have several futon mattresses for family, for guests and to use as chairs and sofas.

In this century people around the world have adopted the use of the futon mattress because it is comfortable, about 35-80 pounds in weight and very affordable. The futon mattress has been designed for every type of bed. There are cotton, cotton and polyester, cotton and wool and cotton with inner springs all fitting standard sized beds, sofas and chairs. In the last few years a new design was created where the cover is made of hemp instead of cotton.

The Futon mattress is often being used for fold out beds and chairs such that the chair becomes a bed when the mattress is unfolded. This is a great option for saving space in a smaller room where there isn't room for both. The same is possible with a double bed and a double couch. In fact some people actually prefer to purchase a king size Futon mattress for the main living room in order to accommodate guests at night who wish to stay over.
