Using RSS with JavaScript

Read about what JavaScript is as well as how you can add an RSS news feed to your website when you are scripting in JavaScript.

JavaScript is a scripting language that is used for Web development. It is easier to use than Java and was designed for non-programmers to work with. It is less complicated than Flash or HTML and this is why many inexperienced programmers and designers turn to JavaScript.

If you are designing something in JavaScript then you should think about adding an RSS news feed. RSS stands for “Rich Site Summary.” Basically, what it does is take content from other sites and post it on your own site. You just need to tell it which sites you want to follow and then, as soon as something is posted on those sites, your site will be updated with content.

Adding RSS to your site when using JavaScript is easy because you don’t actually have to program anything. You can find pre-written scripts and simply copy and paste them. Of course, you’ll have to add the URLs of the sites you want to take feeds from, but most JavaScript RSS feed providers will easily guide you through the setup.

Using an RSS widget or gadget with JavaScript is a great way to keep your site’s content fresh. When the sites you feed from update their news your site will be updated as well so you will always have the most up-to-date news and content, without having to write it all yourself.

How does Feedzilla work?

Feedzilla is a news aggregator which categorizes news stories by topic. It is a platform where webmasters and bloggers can find an unmatched selection of easy to use, automatically updating and professional news widgets for their sites. Feedzilla supports the building of widgets in various formats, as well as allowing the addition of news widgets to different blogging platforms and social networks.

Feedzilla manually aggregates news summaries found in RSS feeds, and redistributes them in either RSS format or as a news widget. Content is collected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from an ever-growing list of providers.
