Nasdaq Dubai posts minor lossesAs the two UAE local markets, the Nasdaq Dubai posted losses, but in a smaller scale. Dubai Ports World closed 1.97% lower at $0.348. The biggest stock at the Nasdaq Dubai in relation to market capitalisation is almost unchanged on a year-to-date basis since Asian container trade is down by 15% in the first half 2009 due to the global economic crisis. Despite good news, Depa ended 0.49% lower at $0.61. The interior designer's Abu Dhabi subsidiary won a Dhs200m contract for the complete fit out works for Abu Dhabi?s Ferrari World on Yas Island. The first F1 race on UAE soil will commence on the first of November this year. Sharia-compliant Dubai Gold Securities ended at $93.80 (down 1.37%) as gold price dipped 1.7% lower today to $931.25. With oil prices heading south, petrochemical firms posted the largest losses. Market bellwether finished its promenade above SR70 and closed at SR68.50 (off 6.16%). National Petrochemical Co. ended 3.90% lower at SR14.80. Only six (mostly insurers) out of 132 traded shares added value. Vodafone Qatar was the top losing share, declining by 5.10% to QR9.05. After reporting a stable net income of QR46.3m in the first half of 2009 (compared to QR46.2m in H1 2008), food producer Zad Holding Company gained 0.42%, closing at QR47.10.
