Kuwait Exchange falls further
The Kuwait Exchange (KSE) declined for the fifth consecutive trading day. Its price index closed at 7,680.1 points, down 0.56%. Mobile telecom giant Zain dipped amid profit booking, closing 1.56% lower at KD1.260. National Petroleum Services Co. posted the largest gain (up 9.10% at KD0.300). Qatar Exchange gains 0.43%
The Qatar Exchange's (QE) main gauge, the DSM20-Index, gained 0.43%, closing at 7,129.12. Real estate heavyweight United Development Co. (UDC) closed 5.74% higher at QR42.50 after the builder of the artificially constructed island The Pearl Qatar released a statement to the QE that it will establish a fully owned subsidiary with a capital of QR10m. UDS's new subsidiary aims to gain market shares in the fields of insurance brokerage and risk management services. [AMEInfo.com]

Sabic shares add 2.68%
Shares of Saudi petrochemical giant Sabic cracked a key resistance level and closed 2.68% higher at SR76.75. Sabic outperformed the lead index Tasi which finished at 5,817.8 points (0.55% higher). Most insurance operators performed weaker, with Allied Cooperative Insurance Group posting the largest decline (4.08% lower at SR58.75). Dr Omar Bin Zuheir Hafez, CEO of the Saudi United Cooperative Insurance Company (down by 0.42%, closing at SR23.90 told Gulf News today, that many Saudi insurance firms had to increase premiums by up to 40 per cent due to the Swine flu. Some 3,500 Saudi nationals have been infected and 26 were killed by the flu so far, Gulf News writes. Some 127.89m stocks changed hands in Riyadh. [AMEInfo.com]
