Team Moneymaker Boot Camp, Hobbs Story Highlight WSOP ExperienceThe World Series of Poker is both the playground of the professional poker player and the land of dreams for the everyman, the unknown who hopes for that one moment of glory. Five years ago the dream came true for Tennessee accountant...
Pokernews.com Tuesday, July 08, 2008Poker After Dark - The Last Couples HandThere were no more couples left, and it was the end of one of the more interesting theme weeks of the hit NBC show, Poker After Dark - Couples Week.
launchpoker.com Tuesday, July 08, 2008Poker After Dark - What Can Kill AcesThe
director's cut of the NBC Poker After Dark show is always an interesting cross section of poker pro thought. In addition to watching the hands viewers can see the reasons why poker pros make some of the choices behind their wins and losses.
launchpoker.com Tuesday, July 08, 2008Inside the WSOP: Investigating the Curse of the Day 1 Chip LeaderLike the Sports Illustrated cover curse or the Chicago Cubs' 'Curse of the Billy Goat,' poker tournament players often refer to the curse of the Day 1 chip leader, referring to the idea that he or she who has the chip lead after Day 1...
Pokernews.com Tuesday, July 08, 20082008 WSOP Diary, Main Event Day 1D: Dylan Linde and Steve Austin Are Chip LeadersSo what do Dylan Linde and Steve Austin not have in common with Jennifer Tilly? Well if you include a Y chromosome and a penchant for really cute shoes, the list is probably pretty big. Specifically though, Dylan and Steve are still alive in the Main Event and Jennifer Tilly along with Ms. Duke have been eliminated. Not only are Dylan Linde and Steve Austin still hanging around in the tournament, but they are the Day 1D chip leaders.
launchpoker.com Tuesday, July 08, 20082008 WSOP Forecast, Day Fourty: Expect a New Name to Rise to the TopThe Day Ones are all over, and all players got a day off on Monday, so today is the day that all the survivors get to start their quest in earnest, well, half of them, anyway. Today is Day 2A of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event (and day 40 overall of the WSOP) and those that did not bust out from Day 1A and Day 1B get to come back and try to survive. The 20,000 starting stack seems to benefit the pros for the most part, as the better players typically get more mileage out of deeper stack and longer levels.
launchpoker.com Tuesday, July 08, 2008Florida Player Goes All In to Win Poker TourneyWhen Florida attorney Michael Gaetjens walked by the All In Energy Drink booth, he made a decision that wound up worth $100,000 to him. He bought a few cases of the drink, which got him a pass into an All In Poker Tourney. He played and won the event, which landed him $100,000 and an entry into the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event, going on now...
launchpoker.com Tuesday, July 08, 2008UIGEA Challenge Bill FailsThe Payment System's Protection Act was put forth for a vote and failed to move on, thanks to a split vote in the US House Financial Services Committee that saw members crossing party lines. While a dozen members were absent for the vote they were half and half Republican and Democrat, so that had little impact on the final vote of 32-32. The bill would have taken steps to correct what some see as problems with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which has had a strong impact on online poker in the United States.

launchpoker.com Tuesday, July 08, 2008WSOP Tops Last YearWhile it isn't technically a record setting year in terms of main event attendance, this year's World Series of Poker is still doing better than last year. In 2006, the record was set with over 8,700 players paying $10,000 to play in the main event, but last year that number dropped by quite a bit. This year the numbers are up again, with 6,844 players taking a shot, developing a prize pool with a first place prize of $9.4 million...
