CMT cues 'Country'
Reality TV: Network renews reality series -- CMT has renewed celeb-themed reality series "Gone Country" for a third season.
Variety Sunday, November 09, 2008Nathan wins Top Design 2, which is now Bravo's second-best reality competition
Top Design 2 concluded Wednesday with Nathan Williams winning the $100,000 prize, defeating Preston Lee and Ondine Karady. The judges said they appreciated Nathan's growth during the competition and were "always dying to see what [Nathan would] come up with next." They didn't specify a runner-up.
Now that its second season is complete, it's quite obvious that Top Design is the new Top Chef, which is the new Project Runway. In other words, Top Design 2 claimed the second-best Bravo reality show title after a makeover that followed a dreadful first season.
It was helped by some extraordinary casting which can be summed up in one word: Wisit! There was also that insufferably bitchy Eddie Ross, who works for Martha Stewart Living and was a perfectly detestable villain. And even Andrea Schroder, who could have come across like stunt casting (her husband, as we were reminded about 72 million times, is Rick Shroeder), was actually a strong core

Realityblurred.com Sunday, November 09, 2008Style Network's Ruby documents a 500-pound woman's efforts to lose weight
Ruby Gettinger currently weighs around 500 pounds, but has weighed in the 700s. Her underwear costs $30, she can't go to the bathroom on airplanes so she fears flying and takes Immodium-AD first, and she has bricks under her box spring so her bed won't break. She desperately wants to sit on a man's lap or take a bubble bath. Tonight, the first of nine episodes of Ruby, Style Network's docudrama about her attempts to lose weight, debuts tonight at 8 p.m. ET; it's an hour long, and the rest are half-hour episodes.
Ruby lives in Savannah, and her Southern sensibilities inform the whole show, as does her colloquial language (at one point, she refers to "the way I was trained up"). She's charming and polite and somewhat demure, but she's also confessional and honest about her struggles. The first episode introduces us to Ruby and the people in her life, from her home-schooled nephew who says Ruby is "just my everything" to a woman identified as "Ruby's West Coast Best friend."
Ultimately,
Realityblurred.com Sunday, November 09, 2008David Archuleta and David Cook's albums out this week and next, both happy for each other
On Tuesday, American Idol 7 runner-up David Archuleta's self-titled record will be in stores. One week later, on Nov. 18, winner David Cook's self-titled debut drops. Both are doing press to promote their albums, probably because neither wants to become the next Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee.
Although Archuleta's single debuted better than Cook's, and a rivalry of sorts is inevitable, neither is worried about the comparison. "I know everyone wants us still to compare and compete, but we are so different. Cook is a rocker guy, a guitarist and an amazing musician, and I'm a pop kid," Archuleta told Reuters. As relentlessly cheerful as always, he adds, "I am as excited for his album as I am for mine because we have gone together through this process of watching our dreams grow. This is what we've been looking forward to -- living our dreams and starting our musical careers."
David Cook told Entertainment Weekly, "In a sense, it's fun that that whole rivalry thing got created. If you
Realityblurred.com Sunday, November 09, 2008Danity Kane members reportedly refuse to be part of Making the Band's next season
Danity Kane lost Aubrey O'Day and D. Woods, and now Making the Band 4 might lose the remaining three members for its next season, if a gossip report is to be believed.
According to an unsourced report on ForWomenOnline, the remaining three members "will have a 'meeting' with Diddy on camera but that is their extent of their participation right now" as they have "no contract in place to appear in the new series." The site says "the group is said to be extremely fed up with Diddy and living out their lives in front of the MTV cameras." Notice the vague "is said," which essentially attributes the information to conventional wisdom yet no one at all.
Previously, the site reported that Shannon Bex quit the group, and then after learning that Shannon's still appearing with the group for a concert later this month, quickly backpeddled and insisted that "this date was booked and contracted while Shannon was still a member of the group and she is contractually obligated to appear."Danity Kane
