Escape Great on IMAX
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa opened in more than 4000 theaters, including 129 where it played on IMAX earning $3.63 million over the weekend on the really big screen. That gives the film a per theater average of just over $28,000, which was close to double its regular per theater average. It is also more than twice the $1.6 million Eagle Eye opened with in 84 theaters in September.

Quantum of Solace exploded over the weekend expanding into a total of 60 markets and more than doubling its opening weekend box office. In fact, it earned a rare feat topping the century market with $107.29 million on 10,079 screens in 60 markets for a still early total of $161.11 million. This includes first place openings Germany where it made $15.15 million on 814 screens, while it remained in first place in the U.K. with $14.53 million on 541 screens over the weekend for a total of $49.54 million.
