Quantum Dental Technologies, a Canadian diagnostic device company, revealed its breakthrough technology which detects and monitors the early onset of tooth decay without the need for dental x-rays. It reduces the number of invasive and painful procedures, and encourages better oral health. Quantum introduced its Dental Caries Detection System prototype, known as The Canary System, at the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Conference in Toronto, Canada.

The British Dental Association has noted the recognition of the importance placed on dentistry in the NHS Next Stage review, published today by the Department of health. The review is published just one day after the Department of health was criticised for the failures of the new dental contract by the Health Select Committee.

Researchers have confirmed a long-held prediction of Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity, via observations of a binary-pulsar star system. Eclipses in a unique system of two dead stars, called pulsars, has shown that one of the pair is 'wobbling' in space - just like a spinning top. The effect, called precession, is precisely as predicted by Albert Einstein and is thus a new and exciting confirmation of his theory.
