The Smart Choices Program was motivated by the need for a single, trusted and reliable front-of-pack nutrition labeling program that U.S. food manufacturers and retailers could voluntarily adopt to help consumers make more nutritious food and beverage choices that fit within their daily calorie needs.

The Centre for health Protection (CHP) of the Hong Kong Department of Health is investigating a suspected food poisoning case involving 10 people of a tour group and reminded people to observe good personal, food and environmental hygiene to prevent food-borne diseases.
The affected, comprising four male and six female aged from 18 to 51, are members of a tour group visiting the Mainland from October 18 to 22. They developed gastroenteritis symptoms, including diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting after having dinner on October 20.
