Reuters - A large study suggests that lowered levels of "bad" LDL cholesterol reduce risk of heart attacks and strokes in high-risk patients, but the trial dashed long-standing hopes that folic acid and vitamin B12 might provide such protection, researchers said on Sunday.

AFP - The world's most popular anti-cholesterol drug Crestor could reduce by 44 percent the risk of heart problems among patients who currently don't face a high risk of getting a heart disease, according to a new study.

Major new media outlets have become very exited over Crestor, which is a cholesterol-lowering drug produced by AstraZeneca and is within a classification of drugs called "Statins". The manufacturer began a four-year study called "Jupiter" and ended it after two years claiming astounding results. read more
