Vitamin Supplements Don't Prevent Cancer, Heart Disease
Two studies have been released that show Vitamin E and C do not prevent cardiovascular disease in men and Vitamin D and Calcium do not offer any protection against invasive breast cancer in women.
A trial on Vitamin supplements and cancer prevention, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, studied almost 15,000 middle age males. The men took Vitamin E and C or placebo (dummy pills) for 8 years.

Nestle is withdrawing Nestle Farinha Lactea cereal in the United States. Nestle is taking this action as we have learned that the product may contain residual traces of a pesticide not currently approved for use on wheat in the U.S. While the pesticide is approved for use in Brazil and the noted levels are well below Brazilian standards, it is not used on wheat products in the United States and therefore there is no set standard for its presence in cereal. The pesticide is permitted in the United States on grain crops other than wheat.

Vitamins E and C -- antioxidant supplements taken by many American adults -- don't protect against cardiovascular disease when taken individually, according to a long-term study of more than 14,000 male physicians presented at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2008. Results of the Physician's health Study II (PHS II) were presented as a late-breaking clinical trial. The study was simultaneously published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
