Possibly the world's largest rock breaking boom has recently been installed in Western Australia. The mammoth Transmin model XXHD 100/70 Rockbreaker is powered by an in-house designed 150kW hydraulic power pack, has 10m boom centres, 7m jib centres and weighs around 30t. The business end comprises of a Rammer model G100 hydraulic hammer, which in itself weighs nearly 4t and delivers an impact energy of 9,000J.
