reports citing an official with Zain's major shareholder Kharafi Group. The group will pay KWD 2 a share for the stake in a deal that values the stake at about USD 13.7 billion. The consortium is made up of India's Vavasi Group, and Indian state-owned operators BSNL and MTNL as well as Malaysian businessman Mokhtar al-Bukhari. The official said the deal will take four months to complete. The Kharafi Group, owned by one of the Middle East's wealthiest families, holds an 11 percent stake in Zain through a subsidiary, Al-Khair. It is not known which other shareholders would sell their stake in the mobile operator.

The tender covered three blocks of 30 MHz in the 1700/2100 MHz frequency band. Nextel won two out of three blocks of spectrum up in the 1700/2100MHz frequency bands, while VTR won the remaining block. Nextel's total offer for spectrum blocks B and C reached USD 14.7 million, while VTR won block A with an offer of USD 3.02 million. The new licences aim to boost competition on the Chilean mobile telephony market, currently divided among Entel PCS, Movistar and Claro. The Chilean telecoms market currently reaches 15 million customers. According to Rene Cortazar, minister of transport and communications, the two licence winners have a maximum of one year - that is by the second half of 2010 - to complete their 3G networks deployment across the country.

The hosted service offers a single number for fixed and mobile calls, one voicemail for all messages and one contract. Business customers can switch seamlessly between their mobile and landline phone depending on where they are. They can also decide to pay a flat call rate, per user subscription, for all fixed and mobile calls. Fixed calls are provided through Vodafone UK's extended partnership with BT Wholesale. The Vodafone One Net service also allows customers to have a virtual switchboard, fully hosted by Vodafone UK which can support businesses with multiple office locations. The
launch of Vodafone One Net follows the successful launch of Vodafone One, offering integrated voice, data and fixed-line services for corporate customers.
