Heat SG Quentin Richardson, who missed Sunday's preseason game with a left ankle injury, returned Wednesday at Oklahoma City. He started at shooting guard in place of the injured Dwyane Wade and finished with 11 points in 33 minutes. He shot 4 for 11, including 1 for 7 from 3-point range.

Timberwolves C Oleksiy Pecherov played for the first time in the preseason Wednesday against the Bulls after missing the first two exhibition games with a wrist injury. He went scoreless in 19 minutes, shooting 0 for 5 from the field.

Griffin looks like a pro in start
In a game in which both Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby had the night off, Clippers PF Blake Griffin, the overall No. 1 pick in the nba draft, got to start and had 23 points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes to lead his team to a 93-90 preseason victory at San Antonio on Wednesday. He shot 10 for 14 from the floor, scoring 10 points in the first quarter and 13 in the third. "It was cool," Griffin said of his first-quarter, head-to-head matchup with perennial All-NBA post Tim Duncan. "I've watched him for as long as I can remember, since I was 8 years old and he was in his first year in the league. It was really cool to go up against him."

Evans on fire in return from injury
Hawks SG Maurice Evans, playing for the first time in the preseason, scored 27 points in 26 minutes off the bench to lead the Hawks to a 111-96 victory over the Grizzlies on Wednesday night. Evans, who was nursing an injured left knee during the Hawks' first three preseason games, connected on 8 of 10 shots from the field. "It feels a lot better after getting some rest," Evans said of the deep bone bruise. "I really didn't expect to be as sharp as I was. The guys really did a good job of moving the ball."
