WINDHOEK Monday, January 26, 2009 (IRIN) - Emma Tuahepa was the first Namibian woman to state publicly that she was HIV-positive. In 2003 she was planning to marry her long-time boyfriend, who was HIV-negative, and they wanted to have a baby by means of artificial insemination, which was available in South Africa.

The woman later tested positive for HIV and discovered that her husband had known his HIV-positive status for some time.
