As documented in the above video, Jeff Ledger has pieced together a clever little collection of chips and wires to bring vaguely Wii remote style interaction to the Commodore 64. Perhaps it should be called Wii-ffle Ball, since he's taken a wiffle bat, attached an accelerometer to it, and created an interface that lets the C64 read the sensor's output as a button press. Amongst the future-forward prototypes to be shown: a 26-inch solar-powered LCD television that can be powered by a thin-film photovoltaic panel! Sharp’s plan is to distribute the TV and solar module to areas that have no easy access to grid power.

The Republicans have gone on the offensive and launched an attack ad aimed at Obama’s energy plan. However, their candidate McCain seems to have trouble pronouncing the name of his own energy plan. Meanwhile, the idea of offshore drilling is becoming more popular with the public but still divides the candidates.
Republicans Launch Energy Attack Ad: The Republican National Committee put into circulation their first attack ad on Sunday; they’re running it in the projected battlegrounds of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. This will likely be the first of many such ads, energy being a defining issue between the two candidates.

Tremendous work from Robert Croma.
The Iraq piece is harrowing but you should watch it nonetheless.
The Thibaut piece is simply exhilarating.
I was trying to figure out what exactly makes this work so outstanding.
I don’t think it’s just the fact that it is technically so good (although it is).
It’s to do with Croma’s taste, judgement & instinct, or at least how he
deploys these to tell us something, or rather to intuit-to-us something
about being a human being.
You couldn’t make a rule of it, for that would render it inert & mechanical,
but, loosely, in these two pieces, it seems to me to lie in a going-beyond
-the-expected - a process with its heart in the little codas which open
out the pieces in a quite extraordinary way.
So the Iraq piece, though supremely well done, is initially not a
