F# Releases September 2008 CTP! Don Syme just announced today the F# Community Technical Preview (CTP) Release September 2008 which is now available for download as well the launch of the MSDN F# Developer Center. I've been playing with these builds lately and they are great improvements in usability as well as better integration into Visual Studio and MSBuild. Be sure to check out Don's post on the matter on how the language has evolved and the changes that have been made. Some of the big items I've that are part of the CTP include:

Units of Measure
Splitting of F# into the FSharp.Core.dll and the F# PowerPack on CodePlex
What I really like is the approach that they are taking with regards to the core language and the PowerPack. MySpace users are very familiar with the visage of their first "friend" and MySpace cofounder [Tom Anderson], but did you ever wonder what he used to do before he became everyone's friend? TechCrunch's investigative reporting revealed that [Tom] was a hacker in the eighties who hacked into the Chase Manhattan Bank computer system, which attracted the attention of the FBI. Under the handle "Lord Flathead", he became the leader of a black hat hacker group by the time he was fourteen. His activities (along with those of other hackers) led to one of the largest FBI raids in California history. Because he was a minor at the time, he was not arrested, but put on probation in exchange for an agreement to stop committing computer crimes.
