Tr.im is done with URL Shortening, I never thought I would have to report this
I thought that I would never hear about a URL shortening service calling it quits, but that changes. Nambu Networks has announced that it will put tr.im in the coffin. The blog post states that the service has been shut down due to the reason that Twitter has chosen bit.ly as its default URL shortner. That sounds pretty justified, a bit sad though as tr.im was pretty popular on Twitter. However Nambu states that it could not meet the growing cost of maintaining and running the networks it required for the redirects and URL creation each day (you can guess how much load could this mean). The decision is effective immediately, however all the links that have been shortened so far will continue to function till December 31, 2009. Tags: dead, tr.im, url shortener Related posts Yahoo! Results Due: Allied Capital, Dish Network, Dynegy to report. The Lowdown Friday's rally may have fizzled out already. Stock futures were lower Monday as traders grew cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve's next decision on interest rates. Shortly before 7 a.m., Dow, Nasdaq and S&P 500 futures traded below fair value. The Federal Open Market Committee, the arm of the Fed that rules on monetary policy, is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Wednesday to hand down its statement on the federal funds rate. Most analysts and economists expect the Fed to stand pat this week, but some say the better-than-expected employment data that led to Friday's rally may provide support for an increase soon. Traders will be listening for hints of a rate hike down the road. In company news, Publicis (PUBLF) said Sunday that it
