SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Aon Corp. Founder and Executive Chairman Patrick Ryan said late Wednesday that he plans to retire from the insurance broker on Aug. 1. 'The transition to a new management team under the sound leadership of Greg Case is complete,' Ryan said in a statement. 'I will of course continue to be a dedicated and interested shareholder.' Ryan, 70, founded Aon in 1964 and initially focused on providing advice, consulting services and distribution of insurance products to the automotive industry. SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Medtronic Inc. said late Wednesday the Food and Drug Administration classified a letter the company sent to doctors warning of an increased inflammation risk as a recall of two of its devices. In January, Medtronic sent a letter to doctors warning that use of the company's SynchroMed and IsoMed drug infusion systems could result in inflammatory masses when used with certain drugs. The letter said the risk was associated with intrathecal use of the devices, or when drugs are injected into the spinal canal.
