NEW DELHI (MarketWatch) -- American Tower Corp. has emerged as the frontrunner for the purchase of a stake in the tower unit of Tata Teleservices Ltd., the Daily News and Analysis reported Thursday, citing unidentified industry sources. Tata Teleservices, the unlisted telecom company of India's Tata Group, has 10,000 towers and has pegged the valuation of its tower company at around $2 billion, the report said. Tata Teleservices is looking to divest between 26% and 49% in its tower business and had earlier shortlisted around 15 strategic investors, the report said without elaborating.
