SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Advanced Micro Devices Inc. moved Monday to cut 10% of its work force, saying its first-quarter revenue would be lower than expected. Under the chipmaker's new forecast, first-quarter revenue will come in around $1.5 billion, up 22% from the year-earlier period but down 15% from the fourth quarter. AMD had previously said it expects first-quarter revenue to decline in line with seasonality, which is typically around 7%. The company also said it plans to cut its workforce by about 10% by the end of the third quarter of 2008.
