SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- MSCI Barra will open consultations on proposals to reclassify South Korea and Israel as developed markets from emerging markets, the index provider said late Wednesday. It will also reclassify Jordan from emerging markets to frontier markets at the end of November 2008. MSCI is considering downgrading Argentina and Colombia as frontier markets unless there are significant improvements in the relevant capital flow restrictions, it said. SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Hexion Specialty Chemicals Inc., an affiliate of Apollo Management LP, said late Wednesday it sued Huntsman Corp. because Huntsman's poor performance would make a combined company insolvent. In July 2006, Hexion offered to buy Huntsman for $6.5 billion and another $4.1 billion in assumed debt. 'While both Hexion and Huntsman can be successful as separate companies, they cannot now support the debt load that was agreed to at the time the transaction was put together,' said Craig Morrison, Hexion chairman, president and chief executive, in a statement. Hexion also believes that alternative financing will not be available under current capital markets.
