China Watch: Plays with Staying Power
This week, Larsen Kusick gives us insight on how to play A-Power Energy after the company announced contract agreements with General Electric. We also turn to Dave Peltier to get the scoop on whether the Chinese Internet sector is still a hot place to be, and to get the no-holds-barred truth on whether ETFs really are a safer--or smarter way to play China. Finally, don't miss Director of Research for Action Alerts Plus Stephanie Link when she answers one viewer's question on what the best China infrastructure plays will be for 2009.

Green From Day One
When Ronald Reagan assumed the presidency in 1981, one of the first things his administration did was to take down the White House's solar panels. These panels had been installed by President Jimmy Carter in reaction to the oil shock of 1979, and were a well-meaning attempt to show that Carter was trying to deal with escalating oil prices by investigating alternative energy sources. Unfortunately, this well-meaning measure like many of his others, never got much traction. It also didn't help that OPEC's reaction to america rationing oil and gas and making forays into alternative energy was to drop the price of oil to $10 per barrel. There was no need to seek anywhere else for energy when oil once again became so cheap. Was Reagan's solar panel removal cynical, or was it more a kind of posturing to show that this nation would make it through that particular crisis? We'll never know, and it really doesn't matter. We're here now, watching oil prices jump from $150 per barrel last summe

Fear Is Still Dominant Emotion on Wall Street - Crooks Liars
Obama's got a long road ahead of him. Despite s, stabilizing this economy will be : President Barack Obama yesterday told Americans that his inauguration symbolized "hope over fear," but on Wall Street, investors stuck with fear. The Dow Jones industrial average plunged 332.13 points yesterday to close below 8,000 for the first time since the end of November as the largest US banks continue to bleed cash and the Congressional Budget Office casts doubt on the effectiveness of an $825 billion proposal to spend the nation out of recession. The Dow, which ended at 7,949.09, lost 4 percent of its value, the worst Inauguration Day loss in the 113-year history of the index. Other indexes suffered steeper losses. DrumBeat: January 22, 2009 - NewsTrust Yahoo Pipes Feed
(Bloomberg) -- Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter, will cut production by 300,000 barrels a day below the quota agreed on with OPEC to prop up prices, Algerian Oil Minister Chakib Khelil said. Saudi Arabia will make the reduction before a March 15 meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, the Algerian state-run newspaper El Moudjahid reported, citing comments from Khelil yesterday in Algiers. "That shows that the Saudis want to take their responsibility and that they see the imperative to match a lower demand with a lower supply," Johannes Benigni, managing director of JBC Energy consultants in Vienna, said in a Bloomberg Television interview today. HOUSTON (Reuters) - Early indications that OPEC members are ...
