Kellogg expands peanut-butter item recall on salmonella fear
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Kellogg Co. said late Saturday it is expanding its voluntary recall of items containing peanut paste that could be tainted with salmonella. The food producer said it recalling its ShopRite Peanut Butter on Toasty Crackers and ShopRite Peanut Butter and Cheese Cracker Snacks in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration because they contain peanut paste produced by Peanut Corporation of America, the purported source of the tainted peanut products. Earlier in the month, Kellogg issued a voluntary recall of 16 varities of its Austin, Keebler and Famous Amos-branded peanut butter crackers and cookies.
