(NASDAQ: SPLS) to 343 plaintiffs in acase brought under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Followinga six week trial, the jury unanimously determined that Staples, Inc. hadfailed to comply with the law in classifying the employees as exempt underthe Act and failing to pay them overtime. The jury also found that Stapleshad acted willfully in violating the law. Staples' liability could beincreased as the Court will next month be hearing applications for theimposition of liquidated damages in an amount equal to the jury verdict andfor attorneys' costs and fees.
