MSNTokyo stocks unsettled; strong yen weighs on some exporters HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Japanese stocks were unsettled Thursday as financials like Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group extended gains, while exporters such as Sony Corp. dropped as the yen strengthened. The rise in financials came after the U.S. Federal Reserve said it would buy $300 billion of Treasury bonds to arrest a slide in the U.S. economy, but the dollar fell sharply against major currencies. The Nikkei was recently down 0.2% at 7,959.17, giving up early gains, while the broader Topix rose 0.3% at 767.28.
