NAL Oil & Gas Trust Files Year-End Disclosure Documents
CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - March 23, 2009) - NAL Oil & Gas Trust ('NAL' or the 'Trust') (TSX:NAE.UN) today filed with Canadian securities authorities its Annual Information Form ('AIF') for the year ended December 31, 2008 on the System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval ('SEDAR'). The AIF contains the annual disclosure and reports relating to reserves data and other oil and gas information required pursuant to National Instrument 51-101 Standards of Disclosure for Oil and Gas Activities (Forms 51-101F1, F2 and F3).

I am a banker who lived through the S & L crisis in the Southwest in the late 1980s. One of the principal problems then was that the FDIC and the RTC owned or controlled a significant portion of the commercial real estate in Texas. The FDIC and the RTC were short-sighted (and sometimes incompetent) in the management of problem loans and in foreclosed commercial property. Every action they took only exacerbated a bad market -- calling or not renewing performing loans, which led to more foreclosures, and selling properties at fire-sale prices, etc. The existence of substantial government or bank ownership of property in a market can truly cast a cloud on the local real estate market. I think the Geithner plan CAN be different -- it places control of the assets in private (read: entrepreneurial) hands, and these private hands will have skin in the game.
