Obama directs GM to convert debt to equity: report
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- General Motors Corp. may structure a new debt plan that would convert $48 billion owed to bondholders and its union to equity at the direction of the Obama administration, Reuters reported late Friday, citing people briefed on the plan. GM intends to propose the plan to bondholders and the United Auto Workers union within the next two weeks, according to Reuters.
