HERNDON, Va. (AP) - Curriculum and education services providerK12 Inc. said profit rose 44 percent in the third quarter, the result of strong enrollment growth and increased demand for its curriculum offerings.

Monday, healthcare services and information technology company McKesson Corp. reported a dip in fourth quarter earnings, hurt by a non-cash charge related to equity investment. As a result of slowing economy, the company witnessed delays in technology purchasing and a modest impact on revenues in certain areas of distribution business. For fiscal 2010, the company expects moderate revenue growth, with earnings per share expected to fall short of the Street view.

Facebook has pulled the plug on RSS Feed App, which enabled users to read updates by subscribing to these outside Facebook. The reason why this has been shut down is that exporting a friend’s content to a third party is not a very nice thing to do. Well I agree with that, plainly because privacy is what matters most, but I found that pretty useful. Why? Well i didn’t have to switch tabs or open Facebook to read updates, etc. Facebook does miss out at being a bit more open to third parties, perhaps that’s one reason why many users prefer it. But then such things accelerate ease of usability and expanding the service beyond apart from integrating innovation to make it more effective. Principal Financial Group Inc., Monday said its first quarter profit declined from a year ago on higher other than temporary impairment losses and lower revenues. Results also reflect losses related to net realized capital and other items. The financial products and service provider's earnings and revenues came in below Street estimates for the quarter.

All news from Plurk isn’t a bad one, we reported the micromessaging service being banned in China and also faced downtime this weekend. But it hasn’t used it as a reason to not roll out a new update, earlier today it release real time search. This would enable a user to search for what is being said about a topic at a given moment on Plurk. The service is pretty much like Twitter, the difference being it represents the messages in a horizontal time line and gives an easier way to respond to someone’s message. Launched last year, the service has been gaining up users but that is nothing compared to the gargantuan that Twitter is.
