The Company realized a net loss of $704,000 or ($0.12) per diluted share for the second quarter of 2009 compared to net income of $1,981,000 or $0.34 for the second quarter of 2008. The per-share operating results have been adjusted for a 5% stock dividend distributed in December 2008.

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - July 27, 2009) - All financial figures are unaudited and in Canadian dollars unless otherwise noted. Canadian Oil Sands Trust ('Canadian Oil Sands', the 'Trust' or 'we') (TSX:COS.UN) today announced cash used in operating activities of $44 million ($0.09 per Trust unit ('Unit')) for the second quarter of 2009 compared with cash from operating activities of $413 million ($0.86 per Unit) for the same period last year. During the first half of 2009, cash from operating activities was $6 million ($0.01 per Unit) compared with the $854 million ($1.78 per Unit) in the 2008 six-month period.
