High-speed rail plan to eliminate domestic flights
Replacing plane journeys with ultra-fast train services 'manifestly in the public interest', transport secretary saysThe government has made the demise of domestic air travel an explicit policy target for the first time by aiming to replace short-haul flights with a new 250mph high-speed rail network. The transport secretary, Lord Adonis, said switching 46 million domestic air passengers a year to a multibillion-pound north-south rail line was 'manifestly in the public interest'. Marking a government shift against aviation, Adonis added that rail journeys should be preferred to plane trips.'For reasons of carbon reduction and wider environmental benefits, it is manifestly in the public interest that we systematically replace short-haul aviation with high-speed rail. But we would have to have, of course, the high-speed network before we can do it,' he said.In an interview with the Guardian to launch a three-day special report on high-speed rail, Adonis revealed that plans for a new gener

YouTube upgrades Promoted Video, which means better promotion (and even more Revenue)
It hadn't happened earlier but YouTube is now pretty serious at making most out of its reputation as being the largest online video site. The number of videos against which revenue is tapped has shot up and today it took another step forward. It released another feature that would help push such videos via YouTube Promoted Video campaigns, which will now appear right on the page of the video being watched. Is that something close to AdSense for YouTube? The idea behind this is to make sure that its partners benefit the most by boosting the revenue each can generate. To be honest this one has no doubts attached, with this kind of promotion right on the page you are watching the video is bound to have a very positive impact on revenue generation. The Fourth Largest site on the Web is now Facebook
Facebook continues its rapid growth, exponentially as it crawls up at number 4. It follows names like Google, Microsoft and Yahoo, each of which have been on the web for much longer time than the leading social network. The network has grow by over 150% , surpassing bigger names in business like Amazon, MySpace. I don't doubt Facebook going ahead of Yahoo and Microsoft eventually, even though each has between 200 million to 400 million users to top what Facebook currently has, but that appears to be a small number given Facebook's growth in the recent past. As for giving Google any trouble, I think I am not optimistic enough to put it anywhere close to the search giant. Tags: facebook, Reports, web Related posts Facebook: "Okay!
