The biggest poker tournament ever to be held in the state of Florida will was held over the weekend, adding to the poker fever sweeping the USA while the World Series of Poker ramps up across the country in Las Vegas, Nevada. The poker tourney in Florida was a $3k buy in No Limit Texas Holdem event held at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida. PokerStars today announced an endorsement deal with veteran tournament pro Kathy Liebert, who began the 2008 World Series of Poker in grand fashion by final-tabling the important opening event of the series, $10,000 World Championship...

Records are already being set at the 2008 World Series of Poker. event #2, the first $1,500 no-limit hold'em of the Series, has broken a record for most entrants with 3,929, making it the fourth largest poker tournament ever held. Back for another exciting day of action. Yesterday, before the $1,500 NLHE event kicked off they were playing a mix of hip hop music over the loudspeakers. The D.J. today must be of the older variety as he is playing some 60's rock tunes. It's decent stuff but it just doesn't get your blood pumping like some 50 Cent. Today's day two is expected to sell out, which would bring the total number of players for the event #2 to over 4,000, a record for a poker tournament that is not the Main event. The first Monday of the World Series. It'll be a lot quieter today than this past weekend but there will be three events going on at one point later today so in that regard it'll be busy. I'll be curious how many people play a $1,500 PLHE event as compared to a $1,500 NLHE that starts on a weekday (of course there'd be no comparison to one that started on a weekend).
