AARP Takes Over 2008 WSOP - Day 25 Of The WSOPI am a harsh critic of closed events in poker. To me, events like the Women's event and today's $1,000 Seniors NLHE event have no place in poker. When I go visit my Dad at his Florida retirement community, his buddies always want to play poker with me because they know that's what I do for a living. The stakes are small and the old guys club has a grand time playing a night of cards. This event reminds me a lot of that. The enjoyment the players have is the one thing that I do like about these closed events. More than any other event, the Women's and Senior's events are filled with laughter and people generally having a good time. read more in pokerworks.com Pokerworks.com Monday, June 23, 2008

Full Tilt Fever: Big Money SundaysFor some people, Sunday is a day of rest and relaxation. For those who want to make money, it's a day of online poker at Full Tilt! Big Money Sundays is the only place to be on the one day of the week that work doesn't call and the family is just happy to see your sunny face at home. read more in pokerworks.com Pokerworks.com Monday, June 23, 2008
World Series of Poker Daily Summary for June 22nd, 2008The first respite in what had been an unrelenting early WSOP schedule brought a Sunday where action occurred in only four events, with only one bracelet being awarded. Sunday was far some sedate, however, and the day's bracelet chase... Pokernews.com Monday, June 23, 2008

Event #38 - $2,000 Pot Limit Hold Em Final TableAfter two days on intense poker, nine players remained out of the original 605 that started. Ninth place would pay $22,573 and first would pay $244,546 so the players were playing for over 200K in cold hard cash. The final nine, their seating assignments, and chip counts were as follows: read more in pokerworks.com Pokerworks.com Monday, June 23, 2008
2008 WSOP Event 32 Winner Jose Luis VeladorMost of the time a World Series of poker final table is a dramatic back and forth battle where chip leaders aren't chip leaders for very long, and the underdog has as much chance as the favorite. Event #32 was not one of these tournaments. From the moment Jose Luis Velador sat down at the final table it was sort of like watching somebody with a shot gun taking out a room full of people armed with only pop tarts and foul language. This was the sort of rare domination of the table that only happens once or twice during a WSOP season. launchpoker.com Monday, June 23, 2008
2008 WSOP Event 30 Winner Rob HollinkRob Hollink has made quite a reputation as an Omaha specialist, but in tournaments when he goes outside of his Omaha box, he seems to be quite successful. Today he has added a World Series of poker World Championship bracelet to the rest of his trophies. Rob went into the final table second only to Aaron Katz in the chip count. On his way to the winner's circle Hollink eliminated four of his opponents including the chip leader. launchpoker.com Monday, June 23, 2008
2008 WSOP Event 29 Winner John PhanThere are two incredibly annoying letters in the English language. 'I' and 'F' are perfectly pleasant and agreeable on their own, but when you add the consonant to the vowel, these two letters can make the difference between somebody having a hall of fame career, and a player just becoming a historical footnote in their respective sport. Until just recently this was the legacy of poker player John Phan: a great player who just couldn't win the big one. That changed today. launchpoker.com Monday, June 23, 2008
