Gary Grinds His Way to Event 41 VictoryThe combination of limit and no-limit hold'em is an ideal one because it brings together those with a passion for hold'em but requires a strategy change at the start of each round. And while limit allows the action to slow a bit - or a lot - for players to catch their breaths, the no-limit portion of the game creates the opportunity for more drastic moves and greater chip movement. So, we have the $1,500 Mixed Hold'em event at the World Series of poker. read more in pokerworks.com Pokerworks.com Wednesday, June 25, 2008

When to Race or take the Coin FlipSooner or later you have got to make that big decision. You have AK and you know your opponent has a pair of Queens or less. What do I do now? Well, it all depends on where you are in the poker tournament. Most times with a hand like AK you are going to raise and see a flop. However, if you are midway or further through the tournament you may decide to push all of your chips in the middle and race. That would not be a bad play as it would put your opponent to a major decision for all of his chips. Obviously if you are short stacked you really have no choice in the matter. However, in fast structure tournaments I have noticed that many online players are more than happy to race with any small pair hoping their opponent is holding Ace King early in the poker tournament before the first break. I think this is a horrible play for a few reasons.read more 777.com Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Duplicate Poker reduces its Rake and improves Play Big-TimeFor those who've heard of Duplicate poker, they know that the site is spearheading a movement to reward people who are skilled at the game of poker. Instead of just leaving a sizeable amount of games like Texas Hold'em up to chance, Duplicate seeks to make poker much more skill based by having players from different tables receive the same hold cards and basically seeing who makes the best moves with them. read more in pokerworks.com Pokerworks.com Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Event #40 - $2,500 Deuce To Seven Triple Draw Final TableThree days ago, one of the smaller fields got underway at the 2008 World Series of poker as 238 players took part in the $2,500 Deuce to Seven Triple Draw event. For only a $2,500 event, it had all the feel of an elite event as almost every poker superstar on the planet took part. By the time it was narrowed down to six though, most of the big names had been eliminated. The final six wasn't lacking in star power, however, as it contained Robert Mizrachi, noted author David Sklansky, and new bracelet winner John Phan. The seating assignments and chip counts for the final table were as follows: read more in pokerworks.com Pokerworks.com Wednesday, June 25, 2008
2008 WSOP Event 39 Winner David WooDay 2 of Event #39 was stamina testing, life-force draining grind that left Thom Werthmann with a 345,000 chip lead over his nearest competitor. Considering the fact that he started the day with a nice head start, was the only one at the table who had a World Series of poker bracelet on his wrist, and very few of his opponents had even cashed in a WSOP event before, this was a tailor made situation for him to get a piece of jewelry for his other wrist. Of course, before any of friends can pop the champagne to celebrate his victory, they had best remember the old adage about the best laid plans of mice and men. launchpoker.com Wednesday, June 25, 2008
