So what do Dylan Linde and Steve Austin not have in common with Jennifer Tilly? Well if you include a Y chromosome and a penchant for really cute shoes, the list is probably pretty big. Specifically though, Dylan and Steve are still alive in the Main event and Jennifer Tilly along with Ms. Duke have been eliminated. Not only are Dylan Linde and Steve Austin still hanging around in the tournament, but they are the Day 1D chip leaders.

The Day Ones are all over, and all players got a day off on Monday, so today is the day that all the survivors get to start their quest in earnest, well, half of them, anyway. Today is Day 2A of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main event (and day 40 overall of the WSOP) and those that did not bust out from Day 1A and Day 1B get to come back and try to survive. The 20,000 starting stack seems to benefit the pros for the most part, as the better players typically get more mileage out of deeper stack and longer levels.

When Florida attorney Michael Gaetjens walked by the All In Energy Drink booth, he made a decision that wound up worth $100,000 to him. He bought a few cases of the drink, which got him a pass into an All In Poker Tourney. He played and won the event, which landed him $100,000 and an entry into the 2008 World Series of Poker Main event, going on now...

While it isn't technically a record setting year in terms of main event attendance, this year's World Series of Poker is still doing better than last year. In 2006, the record was set with over 8,700 players paying $10,000 to play in the main event, but last year that number dropped by quite a bit. This year the numbers are up again, with 6,844 players taking a shot, developing a prize pool with a first place prize of $9.4 million...

Film Reviews: Though comparatively rough-hewn, '2nd Verse: The Rebirth of Poetry' is an inspirational crowdpleaser in the mode of docs like 'Spellbound' and 'Mad Hot Ballroom,' similarly tracing precociously skilled young protags through a competitive event. In this case, it's the annual Brave New Voices Poetry Slam, a San Francisco event that in 2005 (the year recorded here) attracted some 350 teenage poets from 36 U.S. cities, plus a smattering of international participants.

Gaetjens, an accountant by trade, made excellent use of the invitation that his ALL IN Energy purchase afforded him. The freeroll, which was staged at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino alongside the other WSOP tournaments, included the top 1,200 "winners" from All IN's customer appreciation and sweepstakes contests. Payout was divided amongst the top 300 players. The tournament was designed so that lots of players got a piece of the prize money.
