West Virginia Poker Ruled LegalWhen a West Virginia resort wanted to hold a poker tournament, there was some concern that the local law enforcement would want to prevent the game from going forward, or that they could expect a raid the day of the event. When Pocahontas County Prosecutor Walt Weiford spoke out about it, however, he said that the Snowshoe Resort event was not going to violate state gambling laws. When West Virginia Lottery Commission general counsel John Melton said he thought the tournament might be illegal because it offered a trip to Las Veagas, Weiford countered with the fact that the players put up no money to participate.Related Articles:Legal poker in California close to happeningPoker comes under fire in Germany... launchpoker.com Sunday, July 20, 2008
