Mark Burnett will update This is Your Life
This is Your Life, the radio turned television show that aired in the 1950s and early 1960s, is again being developed for TV, this time by Survivor executive producer Mark Burnett. His work 'comes about three years after Fox TV Studios attempted to bring back the format,' TV Week reports. 'The studio set up a revival of the franchise at ABC, signing Regis Philbin to host and landing a six-episode commitment. ABC ultimately didn't move forward with the show, however.'Ralph Edwards Productions will co-produce the show with Burnett, and John Couch, a senior VP with the company, told Broadcasting & Cable, 'Back when we had the ABC deal, there was such a glut of reality programming and it was a different kind of reality where the show were really trying to out-spectacularize each other. I think people are looking for more character driven reality.'Couch also said that the current economic crisis makes this the perfect time for the show, because when it initially aired, 'The country was

Extreme Makeover shoot involves ``countless retakes``
Even as more houses constructed on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition suffer from financial problems--like one that's in foreclosure, while one in Orlando now has a lien against it due to unpaid county fines--the production continues to produce brand-new, often mansion-like homes for deserving families. The New York Times' Key Magazine went behind the scenes during the production of the episode that aired Oct. 5, documenting the house-building process--and the ways in which producers fake parts of the show, from retakes to the earpieces in their hosts' ears that allow producers to make sure their on-camera talent say and do exactly what they want them to do.Although all of this is not exactly unsurprising, it is kind of shocking, like when producers make four-year-old Faith Akers repeat scenes over and over again until she says the right things. The magazine reports that her mother 'Ginger eventually showed up and remarked that her daughter looked 'about done.' They pushed ahead, doing

Bringing The Banjo From `Africa To Appalachia`
While typically associated with traditional bluegrass, country and even jazz, the banjo has roots that stretch all the way back to West Africa. Musician Jayme Stone made that journey in search of the ancestors of his own banjo; along the way, he met kora player Mansa Sissoko. The two have collaborated on a new album called Africa to Appalachia.
