Playhouse on the Green, a 54-year-old not-for-profit theater company in residence at a beautiful 228-seat jewel-box theater in the heart of downtown Bridgeport, presents a staged reading of Quitting Time, a new dramatic play by Jack Rushen, on Sunday, February 15 at 7PM. Michelle Obama's inaugural ball gown designer Jason Wu is the man behind the first lady of fashion, calling the opportunity to design for her a "surreal experience." The 26-year-old designer said he was "awestruck" when he discovered he was creating the gown that Mrs. Obama would wear to the inaugural ball. "It's a little bit of a dream come true," Wu said. The only instructions Wu got for the gown was to make it "sparkle" -- though, when designing the dress, he still had no idea it was for such a special occasion.

Mill Mountain Theatre Closes Doors, Cancels Remaining Season
The Roanoke Times is reporting that the Mill Mountain Theatre, once the flagship of Roanoke's thriving arts and cultural community, is shutting its doors, board members announced Tuesday. The theater, which has large and apparently mounting debts, has cancelled at least the rest of this season. Its last play will be 'Driving Miss Daisy,' which runs through Feb. 8 on the Waldron Stage, assuming the theater can meet production costs. The play is scheduled to open tonight.
