About 20 staff under threat of compulsory redundancy on two of Scotland's biggest papers, the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, are expected to learn their fate from today, according to the National Union of Journalists.The union expects publisher Trinity Mirror to notify around 20 editorial staff that they have been selected for compulsory redundancy, adding to the 30 it says have already accepted voluntary terms to leave the Glasgow-based newspapers.'They [management] are proceeding with the selection process and they are going to be telling people today and tomorrow that they have been selected for compulsory redundancy,' Paul Holleran, the Scottish organiser of the NUJ, told MediaGuardian.co.uk.'They have hand-picked as many as 40, but we think around 20 will go. That's going to cause massive backlash amongst the staff.
