The Accidental Billionaires
In 2003, author Ben Mezrich - rather like a cool card shark running the table - was on a roll. His bestseller "Bringing Down the House," about card-counting Massachusetts Institute of Technology whiz kids beating the odds in Vegas, was the basis of "21," a Hollywood blockbuster produced by Kevin ...

``Thriller`` sales soar close to Eagles` ``Hits``
For nearly a decade, the Eagles' 'Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975' has been the recording industry's ultimate evergreen release, certified by the RIAA as the all-time best-selling album in the United States. But thanks to continued robust demand for Michael Jackson's catalog since his June 25 death, 'Thriller' appears on the verge of matching 'Their Greatest Hits,' at least in the eyes of the industry trade group.

Katherine Heigl`s `Ugly Truth`: I Play a Lot of `Uptight Chicks`
Katherine Heigl faces off with '300' hunk Gerard Butler in the new comedy 'The Ugly Truth,' in theaters Friday, and the "Grey's Anatomy" star waxes poetic to ET's own Mark Steines about her sexy co-star, how men are still from Mars and women are still from Venus -- and will they ever understand each other? "No," she says flatly. "But I think there is hope that we can maybe come to some sort of middle ground. When you really love someone you will definitely make the sacrifice for certain things. I will compromise a little of my uptightness, and [my husband] Josh will compromise his golf." In the movie, Katherine plays Abby, a high-strung and romantically challenged morning show producer whose search for Mr. Perfect has left her hopelessly single. When hardcore TV personality Mike Chadway (Butler) enters the picture, Abby is in for a rude awakening, as Mike pulls no punches -- on air and off -- about the ugly truth on what makes men and women tick. Lifetime releases Project Runway 6 trailer
Lifetime has given us our first real look at the new Project Runway, which debuts next month. Everything looks very familiar, from the runway set to Tim Gunn's fretting, despite the Los Angeles setting and change of producers. The biggest change appears to be that the workroom now has windows. Besides the annoying narrator, the weirdest part of the trailer is that someone took 'runway' a little too literally and show Heidi and Tim standing on an actual runway next to a Lifetime branded plane. I get that the show moved to Lifetime and the plane helps communicate that, but a tarmac? As part of the trailer, there's also a preview of the brand-new spin-off series Models of the Runway, which looks like it could either be fun or ridiculously pointless. 'I'm sorry, but I want my designer back,' one model yells at another, apparently having not learned her designer's name. Of course, she has no control over that, nor over her place in the competition, since it's the clothes they wear, not t

Padma Lakshmi will star in culinary-themed NBC sitcom
NBC is creating a culinary-themed sitcom for Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi. Padma 'has sealed a development deal with the Peacock and sister Universal Media Studios, which plans to create a half-hour comedy for her' that 'will star Lakshmi as a woman working in the culinary world,' Variety reports. It notes the show could be called 'Single Serving,' which is almost as cute as Variety's opening line: '...Padma Lakshmi is cooking up plans...' Clever! Besides hosting the show and writing cookbooks, Padma does have a resume as an actor, in everything from Bollywood movies to a role in ABC's The Ten Commandments mini-series to an appearance on Enterprise to a role in Glitter. Variety does not ask nor answer the critical question: What effect will this have on her role as host of Top Chef, for which she was just nominated for an Emmy? At least one web site that clearly doesn't know how to read carefully says Variety reported she'll leave the Bravo show for the NBC sitcom, but the story says
