TOMMY FEMIA, the 7-time Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs (MAC) Award-winning impersonator, kicks off his 20th season at the popular midtown club Don't Tell Mama, 343 West 46th Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues), with his acclaimed portrayal of the legendary Judy Garland in 'JUDY GARLAND LIVE!' with two shows a month beginning with a special preview on Monday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. and the official opening on Saturday, September 26 at 8:30 p.m.

Cirque du Soleil and MSG Entertainment have unveiled the brand new theatrical production, Banana Shpeel, at The Chicago Theatre. The show will perform for the first time ever at the theatre for a limited engagement from November 19, 2009 through January 3, 2010. Looking backward, broadcast TV history takes a step into the future Monday. When Jay Leno starts his monologue at 10 p.m., he will initiate the first five-nights-a-week prime-time broadcast program ever by digging into the past with the first hosted broadcast TV comedy/variety show in more than 20 years. The last hit series in the genre, The Carol Burnett Show and Donny and Marie, fell off the ratings charts more than 30 years ago.

Trade shows, such as CEDIA are great indicators of coming trends in home theater. One trend that is finally taking hold is the use of LED technology in video projectors. Runco and Sim2 were both on hand at CEDIA showning off what is being referred to as the 'Lampless' video projector. In other words, instead of employing a traditional lamp to get the image projected onto a screen, these new video projectors employ a series of red, green, and blue LEDs (light emitting diodes) working in conjunction with DLP technology. This type of projector is not only much more efficient, runs very cool, and is mercury-free, but does not need periodic lamp replacement. This brings down the electric bill and lowers long-term maintenance cost for video projector users. Also, another benefit of using an LED light source with a DLP projector is the elimination of the Color Wheel which can introduce a Rainbow Effect into the viewing experience.
