Surge In Older Cancer Survivors Expected As Baby Boomers Age
Given the high incidence and prevalence of cancer in older adults and the anticipated growth of this population over the next few decades, oncologists, geriatricians and primary care providers will be challenged to provide timely and appropriate post-treatment care to older cancer survivors. More post-treatment studies are needed to understand the mental, social and physical health issues among older cancer survivors, behavioral health experts say in special supplement to the journal Cancer.

Prescription Drug Benefits For Cancer Medicare Patients To Cost More In 2009
People with cancer enrolled in Medicare Part D plans will spend more out-of-pocket for their Part D drugs and face increased restrictions on access to them in 2009, according to new research released today by Avalere Health and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN).The Avalere-ACS CAN research found that Medicare stand-alone prescription drug plans (PDPs) have been increasingly shifting name-brand oral cancer drugs to higher formulary tiers over the last four years, meaning that with each year, the products have cost more for consumers.read more
