Maine Medical Residents Receive Dental Care Training To Address State Dentist Shortage
The New York Times on Tuesday examined how '[d]entists are in such short supply in Maine that primary care doctors who do their medical residency in the state are learning to lance abscesses, pull teeth and perform other basic dental skills through a program that began in 2005.' Maine has one dentist for every 2,300 people, compared with one physician for every 640 people.

Mortality Risk Greater For Elderly Women Who Nap Daily
A new study appearing in Journal of the American Geriatrics Society has found that older women who reported taking daily naps had a significantly greater risk of dying. The results of the study are in contrast to a number of prior studies which have indicated that daily napping improves health. Four communities consisting of 8,101 Caucasian women aged 69 and older were studied over a 7-year period.
