An American Epidemic of Fat Blobs
Little fat blobs in your circulation, known as triglycerides, are now shown to be excessively elevated in 33% of Americans. These little fat blobs are turning out to be the best predictor of heart disease, especially when they are measured on a non-fasting basis. In the current study the cutoff for a high score was the typical lab range of 150 mg/dL. However, I have pointed out in previous writing that your triglycerides should never be more than twice the amount of your HDL cholesterol, or you are knocking on the cardiovascular risk door. HDL must haul away the garbage fats in cholesterol, taking them back to your liver to be recycled or cleared. If there is not enough HDL to clear out unwanted fatty components in LDL cholesterol, and there is at the same time too many triglycerides pushing fatty particle into LDL cholesterol – then it is the recipe for a major health problem.High triglycerides also block leptin from getting into your brain correctl

U.S. House of Representatives Again Votes with a Strong Bipartisan Majority in Favor of Granting the U.S. FDA Regulatory Control Over Tobacco Products: American Lung Association Urges Senate to Quickly Pass this Important Lifesaving Legislation
The American Lung Association along with its public health partners including the American Heart Association, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the American cancer Society Cancer Action Network have been working together to urge the passage of this important bill that would provide the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory control over tobacco products. We stand together with our public health allies in urging the U.S. Senate to make swift passage of this bill a top priority. With 442,000 tobacco related deaths plaguing our country each year, swift passage of this urgently needed legislation will save countless lives, not to mention the $193 billion spent annually on tobacco related health care costs and in lost productivity. At the core, passage of this bill would allow the FDA to stop tobacco companies from advertising to children, making misleading health claims about their deadly products and from manipulating their products to make them increasingly more addict
