Workout For The Workaholic
For many Americans finding time to get in the recommended 30 minutes a day of exercise can be almost as difficult as discovering the lost city of Atlantis. According to the Loyola Center for Fitness just because you're glued to your desk doesn't mean you can't exercise. The Blood Sugar Hormone Adiponectin is Linked to Your Circadian Clock
A detailed analysis of biological clocking genes has shown that adiponectin function is in sync with 24-hour patterns. The data also showed that fasting causes the adiponectin-relating timing to fast forward, whereas a high fat diet causes adiponectin-related timing to enter jet lag. Many people know that on some days their energy is in gear and clicking along and on other days their body feels more like molasses, a struggle to stay in motion. These are examples of good timing and bad timing, regardless of the reason why. Leptin is the commander in chief of all hormones and one of its main timing rhythms is on a 24-hour cycle wherein leptin levels are highest at midnight (meaning don’t eat food and prepare other hormones for sleep-related timing release). In health, leptin and adiponectin levels rise together as a team. During weight gain, leptin levels rise excessively in the blood and do not enter the brain properly (causing leptin resistance and food cravi

Digestive Hormone Helps Regulate Your Blood Sugar
New research shows that a digestive hormone known as Cholecystokinin (CCK) actually signals to your brain in a way that your brain signals to your liver to stop releasing sugar into your blood – regardless of insulin levels. CCK is typically elevated following a meal higher in protein or fat, giving a full signal. However, this research shows a new problem called CCK resistance (like insulin resistance), meaning that if you overeat fat and raise CCK too much, then this nifty way of lowering blood sugar is disrupted. This research is interesting because it shows that something happening in your gut is directly regulating your blood sugar. This is a similar finding to that of adiponectin, meaning that a hormone produced in your fat (adiponectin) is also regulating blood sugar by helping insulin. This type of new information is showing an integrated picture of how blood sugar is maintained in its healthy ranges. The take home message is to keep CCK in g
