Rumors have been flowing all week about a collaboration between Beyonce and Lady GaGa on a video to accompany the single release of Beyonce's song 'Video Phone' from her album I Am...Sasha Fierce. Today MTV reported that spokespeople for the video's director Hype Williams confirmed that both Beyonce and Lady GaGa do appear in the video which was filmed last weekend in Brooklyn. No additional information was confirmed but other sources have stated that the clip will have a tremendous display of fashion on the part of Beyonce and Lady GaGa Beyonce's album I Am...Sasha Fierce has been certified double platinum in the US. Thus far it has generated six top 40 pop singles, five of which have gone into the top 20. 'Video Phone' has already been pushed to R&B radio in the US and is climbing the charts. Easily the biggest news out of the country music world today is the announcement Garth Brooks made at a press conference this morning that he's coming out of retirement. Brooks announced his retirement in 2000, though he broke it in '07 to release a greatest hits collection. According to CMT: Garth Brooks is coming out of retirement, he announced Thursday morning (Oct. 15) during a press conference at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. He provided the confirmation just hours before a larger press conference taking place at 4 p.m. ET. As of this blog post, Brooks' site has no information regarding the singer's return, but instead simply states, 'Something exciting is coming.' With the release of John Mayer's video for the song 'Who Says,' we get to see two artists at top form in presenting their art. Mayer's song is simultaneously one of his simplest recordings and one of his most affecting artistic statements. The music video was directed by Anthony Mandler who recently gave us stunning imagery in the 'Run This Town' video. The overall effect is highly cinematic and the mood fits perfectly with the song John Mayer says sounds best between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. on a Friday or Saturday night. Last June, pop singer JoJo headed to YouTube to sound off about frustrations with her record label Blackground records. It seems that at that point her upcoming album currently titled All I Want Is Everything had been complete for over a year, but she was still waiting for her label to reach a distribution deal to release the work. At one point JoJo filed a legal document against Da Family Entertainment insisting that she be released from her contract and awarded $500,000 compensation for being thrust into 'limbo.' The release schedule was also impacting decisions JoJo was making about college. Now it seems that everything has been settled, and the album is now scheduled for release in early 2010.
