Orange No. 2 in Face-Off Yearbook Preseason Poll The Syracuse Orange is ranked second in the 2009 Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Preseason Top 20 rankings that were released on Monday, Jan. 5. The defending national champions boast seven preseason All-Americans and return five starters from last year's 16-2 squad. NCAA semifinalist Virginia claimed the top spot in the poll followed by Syracuse, Maryland, Cornell and Johns Hopkins. Georgetown begins the year sixth. Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame and UMBC round out the top 10. The Orange joined U.S. teams including Michigan, Yale, Army, Fairfield, Cornell and Houston in addition to a number of local universities, while competing over long-course meters. Junior Boldiszar Kiss and sophomores Kuba Kotynia and Berk Kahraman were the top finishers for the Orange men. Kiss finished second in the 100 fly (59.40) and third in the 200 IM (2:18.88). Kotynia and Kahraman also recorded second-place finishes. Kotynia finished the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.43, while Kahraman touched the wall in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.80.
