Calif. High Court Pat-Down Case May Get Punted
Confronted with whether pat-down searches at professional football games violate individual privacy rights, the California Supreme Court on Tuesday seemed ready to punt the issue back to the trial courts. At least three of the justices gave indications that more hearings are needed on the issues of implied consent and less-intrusive security measures. Shafer Set to Instill ``Attacking`` Defense
The holiday season was complete for Syracuse head football coach Doug Marrone. He spent time with his family celebrating Christmas and New Years and in between he hired coaches for his staff, including defensive coordinator Scott Shafer. The pair talked on the phone and ultimately met in person prior to New Year's Eve and talk football. 'My goal was to get the best defensive coordinator we could,' Marrone said. 'I wanted someone who has experience and someone who has the same background as myself. Through numerous phone calls and numerous accounts of philosophy and what we believe in and what I believe in and what we need to do to be successful, we were fortunate enough to get together later during the holidays and do what we as coaches love to do and that's to talk football. I'm excited about the direction we're going to be going i
