Orange Crushes Scarlet Knights for First BIG EAST Victory of the Season, 68-54
In a game that featured five ties and three lead changes, the Syracuse women's basketball team (12-3, 1-1) grinded out its first BIG EAST win of the season, 68-54, against No. 17/14 Rutgers (8-4, 0-1) on Tuesday evening to keep its eight-game win streak alive at the Carrier Dome. Junior forward Nicole Michael became the 18th player in Syracuse history to break the 1,000-point career milestone in the triumph. Michael has amassed 1,005 points in 72 career games, tying Felisha Legette (1985-89) to become the second fastest player in Syracuse history to hit the 1,000-point mark. Martha Mogish (1978-81) hit the 1,000-point mark in her 66th game. Michael totaled 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. All-American Fiammetta Earns Senior Bowl Invite
Syracuse All-American fullback Tony Fiammetta (Walkersville, Md.) is the 43rd Orange football student-athlete to earn All-America honors and is the 52nd Syracuse player to earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl. The 2009 Senior Bowl will be played Saturday, January 24, 2009, in Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Fiammetta, a 2008 Syracuse team captain, was named to the 2008 Pro Football Weekly All-America Team, which annually honors the most talented players in college football and is determined based on considerable feedback from NFL evaluators taking into consideration a player's pure talent and contribution to his team.

Men`s Basketball Tangles with DePaul Wednesday
SYRACUSE, NY -- #11/9 Syracuse's (14-1, 2-0) five-game winning streak will be put to the test when the Orange hosts DePaul (8-7, 0-2) on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. The Orange opened the campaign with nine straight wins before losing to Cleveland State on a three-quarter court buzzer beater. Since the defeat, the Orange has rattled off five straight and is ranked in the top 10 of the ESPN/USA Today Poll. Wednesday's game will be televised on the BIG EAST Network and can be seen live locally on Time Warner 26.
